# ChargeCensus > The public census of America's EV charging stations. ChargeCensus catalogues every EV charging station in the US Department of Energy's Alternative Fuels Data Center registry — locations, networks, connector types, port counts by charging level, pricing and access — as free, indexable per-station pages with network, state and city roll-ups. Dataset last updated July 2026. ChargeCensus (chargecensus.com) is operated by Hyder Media. All records come from the US Department of Energy / NREL Alternative Fuels Data Center (AFDC) station registry, electric (ELEC) fuel type — the federal reference dataset for US EV charging infrastructure. One page per station; network roll-ups grouped by the AFDC ev_network code; port counts are EVSE counts by charging level (DC fast, Level 2, Level 1) as reported to AFDC. ## Key figures (national, updated 2026-07-24) - 89,313 charging stations catalogued - Public stations: 83,621 - Total charging ports: 290,443 - DC fast ports: 76,580 - Level 2 ports: 211,018 - Charging networks: 96 - Largest network: ChargePoint — 47,610 stations - Biggest station: LADWP - John Ferraro Building (Los Angeles, CA) — 394 ports ## Key pages - [Largest charging networks](https://chargecensus.com/rankings/largest-networks): ChargePoint, Tesla, Electrify America and every other US network ranked by stations and ports. - [Biggest charging stations in the US](https://chargecensus.com/rankings/biggest-stations): Top-100 national ranking by total charging ports. - [States with the most DC fast charging](https://chargecensus.com/rankings/most-dc-fast-states): All 50 states + DC ranked by DC fast ports. - [Fastest-growing states](https://chargecensus.com/rankings/fastest-growing): Where charging build-out accelerated most, from station open dates. - [Charging stations by state](https://chargecensus.com/stations): All 50 states + DC with counts, port totals and per-station pages. - [EV charging by city](https://chargecensus.com/ev-charging): City-level charging profiles: stations, ports, networks and growth. - [Network directory](https://chargecensus.com/networks): Every charging network with 3+ stations, cross-linked to its stations. - [Methodology](https://chargecensus.com/methodology): Source, processing, coverage caveats and licensing. - [State-level CSV](https://chargecensus.com/data/states.csv): Machine-readable state aggregates (the Dataset distribution). ## Data & update cadence The dataset refreshes weekly from the AFDC API full pull.
